Vol. 368 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

154.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will consider including Irish draught mares and half-breed mares for equine headage payments.

The 1986 disadvantaged areas schemes will cost almost £20 million more than the 1985 schemes due to the extension of the disadvantaged areas, the £70 payment on beef cows, the increase of 25 per cent in the rate of payment on dairy cows and payment on Connemara ponies in the more severely handicapped areas.

Because of budgetary constraints, it is not possible to allocate more funds for the purpose of paying headage grants on draught and half bred mares.

155.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if a silage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record of an application for a silage subsidy from the person mentioned.

156.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a silage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The silage subsidy was paid on 31 December 1985.

157.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to have a sheep headage subsidy paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

Inspections for the purposes of the ewe premium scheme are at present in progress and it can be taken that the flock of the person named will be inspected shortly. If his application for premium is found in order, payment will be made within the next month or so when payments generally will take place.
