asked the Minister for Agriculture the amount of land which is still held by the Land Commission; the amount of this land which is in the hands of the Land Commission for more than five years; the number of officers who have been employed by the Land Commission on land division in the past year; and the average number of officers employed on such work over the past five years.

The total area of land held by the Land Commission at present is 7,000 hectares of which 40 per cent approximately has been on hands for over five years. The average number of field staff employed over the past year was 46 as against 148 over the previous five years. These officers are engaged on all aspects of land settlement work including land division.
