Vol. 368 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Tax Rebate.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be forwarded to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The taxpayer has claimed a repayment of income tax for the years 1984-85 and 1985-86 and the question of his entitlement to a repayment falls to be determined by way of reviews of his liabilities for those years. To enable the reviews to be carried out the inspector requires additional details of the taxpayer's pay and tax deductions for the two years in question and he wrote to the taxpayer's former employer on 20 February 1986 requesting those details. As there was no response to this request the inspector has been in communication again recently with the former employer and his accountant in the matter.

As soon as the necessary details become available the taxpayer's affairs will be brought up to date.
