Vol. 368 No. 2

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - GNP Growth.

32.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will indicate the Government's projection for GNP growth in the economy in 1986; and the way in which this compares with previous Government projections.

The latest projections indicate that, provided oil prices and exchange rates remain stable at about their present level, GNP should grow by about 2½ per cent in real terms in 1986. However, real GDP should grow by over 3 per cent. The rate of economic growth is now expected to be higher than projected at budget time and to be broadly in line with that set out in the national plan.

I should like to ask a supplementary, but not if I am going to get that type of response from the Minister.
