Vol. 368 No. 2

Written Answers. - Heating of Housing for Elderly.

46.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will allocate the necessary funds to provide adequate central heating for sheltered housing-flats for the elderly which have been turned off precipitately by Dublin Corporation because of lack of resources, with the result that the lives of many elderly people are being put at risk.

The management and maintenance of local authority dwellings, including the necessary heating arrangements, is the responsibility of the local authority. There are no special funds available to me which could be allocated to this purpose.
