Vol. 368 No. 8

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

152.

asked the Minister for Finance when tax due to persons (details supplied) in County Meath will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes who has been dealing with the taxpayer's affairs has not received an application for a repayment of tax from the taxpayer. It appears from the information now supplied by the Deputy that the taxpayer has changed his address. Following a previous parliamentary question by the Deputy, the inspector wrote, on 27 February 1986 and on 16 April 1986, to the taxpayer at the address then given but there was no response. The inspector will now communicate with the taxpayer at his new address.

153.

asked the Minister Finance if he will arrange with the inspector of taxes in Athlone for a refund of tax to be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer's liabilities for all years 1981-82 to 1985-86 have been reviwed and a net overpayment of £75.43 emerged. This amount was repaid to the taxpayer on 19 June 1986.
