Vol. 368 No. 8

Written Answers. - Income Tax Assessment.

137.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will order a complete review of the tax being deducted from a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath as she is the wage-earner in this household and her spouse has no other means of income, yet the tax take is most punitive and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the necessary authorisation for the transfer of the husband's tax free allowances to his wife was submitted to the inspector of taxes on 30 May 1986, and an amended certificate of tax free allowances, was issued to her on 4 June 1986.
