Vol. 368 No. 10

Written Answers. - Use of Tape Recorder.

117.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether an official from her Department recently interviewed an applicant for an old age non-contributory pension whilst using a tape-recorder without first informing the applicant.

Tape-recorders are not supplied to officials for the purpose of recording the interviewing of applicants for old age non-contributory pensions or persons claiming any of the other services administered by the Department.

It has not been possible to identify an instance of the type mentioned by the Deputy from the information supplied by him. If, however, the Deputy will give more detailed information the Department will be glad to investigate the matter further.
