Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

266.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a tax rebate has not been forwarded to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

The Revenue Commissioners have advised me that representations have been made on a number of occasions in recent years concerning this taxpayer's tax affairs. In reply to a previous question tabled by the Deputy on 26 November 1985, it was pointed out that the taxpayer had been requested by the inspector on 18 April 1985 to submit certain details to enable the correct amount of tax-free allowances to be allocated against his retirement pension. This information is still outstanding despite further requests by the inspector on 13 December 1985 and 15 September 1986.

The inspector will not be in a position to carry out a review of the taxpayer's liabilities for the years 1982-83 to 1985-86, inclusive, until the necessary details are supplied.
