Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Industrial Incentives for Cavan and Monaghan.

57.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the priority given in Government policy to the establishment of industry in the depressed Border areas of Cavan and Monaghan.

Limerick East): For the purpose of industrial incentives, both Cavan and Monaghan are designated areas and as such, suitable industrial projects proposing to locate in these areas are eligible for a higher rate of fixed asset grant than that available in non-designated areas.

I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that both Cavan and Monaghan have a good infrastructural base for industrial development with available factories ranging in size from 1,000 sq. ft. to 28,000 sq. ft. at various locations. In addition the IDA have a total of 89 acres of land suitable for industrial development at various locations throughout the counties.

The IDA is actively promoting both counties for suitable industrial projects.
