Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Busway.

77.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the development of the reserved busway to serve Tallaght, County Dublin: if he will state whether funds for this project have been allocated in the Government's Plan —Building On Reality 1985-1987 and when this project will proceed.

The Road Plan, published in January 1985, contained a commitment that provision would be made for this busway and lines for the proposed busway have been reserved in the development plans of Dublin Corporation and Dublin County Council.

Preliminary proposals for the busway have been examined by my Department in consultation with the local authorities, the Department of Communications and CIE. These proposals will be considered by the Dublin Transport Authority in the context of its statutory obligations to make recommendations to the Ministers for the Environment and Communications under section 21 of the Dublin Transport Authority Act, 1986.
