As indicated in the Policy Statement on the Reform of Local Government, which was issued on 30 May 1985, an independent Boundary Commission is to be set up to review urban boundaries. The question of extending the boundary of Droichead Nua should appropriately be considered in the context of that review and the town commissioners were informed accordingly on 29 November last. Legislation, at present being drafted in my Department, will provide for the establishment of the Boundary Commission.
