As there is an existing chimney in the house the applicant does not qualify either for a grant for the provision of a chimney or back-boiler. The inspector is now being asked to report on the applicant's eligibility for a bathroom grant.

An inspection of the completed works was recently carried out and a grant of £2,732 will be paid within the next few weeks.

Initially, the application had to be rejected as the required waiting period had not elapsed from the date of payment of a previous grant in respect of the house. However, as the applicant wishes to be considered for a grant for a bedroom to relieve overcrowding and as a reduced waiting period of five years applies in such cases an inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks with a view to approval of a grant.
