Vol. 369 No. 1

Written Answers. - Compulsory Purchase Orders.

192.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of applications in his Department from Mayo County Council for compulsory purchase orders on sites for rural housing developments; and when it is proposed releasing these orders so that contracts can be signed for the erection of these rural houses which are urgently needed by people in poor housing circumstances.

Three compulsory purchase orders made by Mayo County Council for the acquisition of sites for housing purposes are awaiting determination at present. The orders which are dated 13 December 1985, 15 February 1986 and 24 May 1986 were submitted to my Department on 14 May 1986, 7 July 1986 and 12 September 1986. Processing of the orders is now at an advanced stage in my Department and there will be no avoidable delay in their final determination on my part.
