The Community's budget for the current year was definitively adopted by the budget council in July. The budget uses all the resources available up to the limit of the 1.4 per cent VAT ceiling which is the stipulated ceiling up to and including 1987. The question of increasing this VAT ceiling as from 1988 will be the subject of discussion at the Foreign Affairs Council in the coming months.
