Vol. 369 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

59.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a special extension grant of £2,000 has been refused to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; the reason the applicant does not qualify for this grant; and the date on which a house improvement grant was paid to the applicant.

A grant for an extension cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the required waiting period of seven years has not elapsed since the date of payment of a previous grant for the house on 9 February 1982. The applicant has been so informed.

60.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will expedite an inspection and payment of a grant to a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

The file in this case is with the inspector for investigation and report and he has been asked to expedite the inspection. Payment of the grant will be made as soon as possible after the inspection provided that all the conditions of the scheme are fulfilled.

61.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the application for a pre-1940 home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon with a view to allocating the grant.

There is no record of the receipt of an application from the person named. There is, however, an application from a person with the same surname and the same address but with a different christian name. The position in that case is that a pre-1940 dwellings special grant amounting to £3,381 and a maximum grant of £2,000 for the building of an extension have been approved.

62.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will review the allocation of a 1985 home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon.

Grants totalling £4,128 in respect of the installation of sewerage facilities, the building of a bathroom and kitchen extension and the carrying out of necessary repairs to the basic fabric of the house have been approved. A pre-1940 dwellings special grant could not be allowed as the estimated cost of the necessary repair works did not reach the qualifying threshold of £4,000.
