asked the Minister for Education when it is hoped that building will commence on the extension to Rathcormac national school in County Sligo.

The preparation of contract documents for the proposed extension at Rathcormac national school, County Sligo, is nearing completion. It is not possible, however, at this stage to say when building work may commence.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the Sligo school project leasing a site from the Borough of Sligo VEC, with a view to locating its school there.

In view of the requirements of the rules for national schools my Department is not in a position to grant aid the provision of prefabricated accommodation to enable a national school to be established on the site in question.

It has been indicated to the school promoters that if suitable premises for the operation of the school on a trial basis can be acquired locally, consideration would be given to the grant aid of the reasonable rent of such premises.

198.
