Vol. 369 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Industrial Development.

17.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total area of vacant industrial space in County Roscommon; the area of land available for industrial development; and the action proposed by the Government to provide industrial employment in County Roscommon.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that it is actively promoting for industrial purposes 103,000 sq.ft. of factory space in County Roscommon which includes units ranging in size from 770 to 34,300 sq. ft. at four locations within the county. In addition, IDA has over 49 acres of land in County Roscommon which it is also actively promoting for industrial development.

In relation to the provision of industrial employment for the county, the IDA approved eight new projects in the small industries sector in 1985. These projects are expected to give rise to 47 new jobs at full production. So far this year 14 projects, including 12 in the small industries sector, have been approved. These projects which involve a total capital investment of £5 million approximately are expected to give rise to over 200 jobs at full production.
