Vol. 369 No. 3

Written Answers. - Creagh, Ballinasloe, (Roscommon) Industrial Site.

25.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will outline his proposals for the development of the industrial estate by the IDA in the Creagh area, Ballinasloe, County Roscommon; and if the IDA will enter into discussions with Bord na Móna for the development of an industrial estate in the village of Ballyforan, County Roscommon.

Limerick East): I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that the site at Creagh to which the Deputy refers was not intended for an industrial estate but was purchased as a strategic site for industries requiring large water supplies. The IDA is continuing to promote the site for projects with these requirements.

I understand that Bord na Móna is continuing to review its plans for the erection of a peat briquette factory on its Ballyforan site and that the site is not available at present for alternative industrial development.
