It is not correct to suggest that a tender has not been sanctioned for this scheme. On 25 March 1985 Wexford County Council's proposal for the acceptance of a tender for this scheme was approved. I sanctioned a loan of £710,000 towards the financing of the scheme in June 1986.
By letter dated 13 October 1986, Wexford County Council informed my Department that the contractor had failed to complete the contract documents. The council have now requested approval to the acceptance of an alternative tender and this proposal is being examined.
