Vol. 369 No. 3

Written Answers. - Impounded Fishing Vessel.

106.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry if his Department is aware that a fishing boat (details supplied) has been impounded by BIM; when this boat will be offered for tender; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Owing to the continuing high level of arrears overdue for payment on the account of the skipper/owner of the fishing vessel in question, and his failure to submit acceptable proposals for payment of these arrears, An Bord Iascaigh Mhara found it necessary to notify him of the termination of his loan agreement and took over possession of the vessel on 10 October. Arrangements for sale of the vessel by public tender will be made as soon as possible.
