Vol. 369 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Assessment.

76.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the fact that a new committee of management recently took over at a co-operative, (details supplied). and are making every effort to tidy up previously poor book keeping procedures and are meeting current PAYE/PRSI payments as they fall due, he will request the Revenue Commissioners to have part arrears for years 1982-83, 1983-84 and 1984-85 withdrawn from the sheriff and to make a deferred payment arrangement with the co-operative concerned for the arrears outstanding; and in view of the fact that seven jobs depend on the Revenue Commissioners not pressing for payment in one lump sum, if he will ensure that a sympathetic view is taken in the case as the new committee of management are meeting these responsibilities as they fall due.

The conduct of negotiations relating to instalment arrangements in an individual case is a matter for the Revenue Commissioners to whom I have referred the Deputy's statement.
