There are 1,195 dentists registered with the Dental Council but not all would necessarily be working. The ratio of registered dentists to the population is one dentist per 3,001 of population.
The ratio of public health dentists to persons entitled to service through the general medical services is one public health dentist per 5,574 entitled persons.
