Vol. 369 No. 4

Written Answers. - Importation of Sugar.

94.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that manufacturers are being forced to import substantial quantities of extra fine grade sugar, in view of the fact that the Irish Sugar Company are not in a position to supply it; and if he will take immediate action on the matter.

I am informed by the Irish Sugar Company that the high cost of production and low level of demand would make it uneconomic for the company to produce extra fine grade sugar.
