Vol. 369 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

106.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange for the payment of a grant under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny where all works have been completed and his Department notified.

A grant of £4,984 was paid on 21 October 1986.

107.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the percentage increase in farm gate prices per lb for beef and per gallon for milk following the green pound devaluation.

Following the devaluation of the Irish green rate on 22 September the support prices for milk and beef expressed in national currency increased by 5.8 per cent. This would represent about 7p per lb in the intervention support level for beef and 5.7p per gallon on the corresponding level for milk. I would point out, however, that under the Community system support prices are applied to the product ex-factory rather than at farm gate and it is not possible to establish an exact correlation between prices at those two levels.
