Vol. 369 No. 4

Written Answers. - Third Level College Courses.

116.

asked the Minister for Education the action he purposes to take to assist students who recently registered for courses in Kevin Street College of Technology, and who have now been informed that the course will not receive European social funding; his views on the fairness of the situation to the individuals involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

For purposes of the middle level technician programme operated by my Department with assistance from the European Social Fund certain one- and two-year courses in regional technical colleges and colleges of technology are recognised. Applications submitted by the authorities of the College of Technology, Kevin Street, for recognition of courses for 1986-87 were approved in accordance with the terms and conditions of the programme. It is proposed to have discussions with the college authorities in connection with participation in future programmes.
