Vol. 369 No. 5

Written Answers. - Post Offices Security.

12.

asked the Minister for Defence if in view of the recent Report on Security at Post Offices, if he will now increase Army involvement with cash escorts and security at post offices and banks.

Pursuant to their role of rendering aid to the civil power, the Defence Forces give assistance to the Garda Síochána in protecting movements of cash. It would, however, be contrary to policy and not in the public interest to disclose details of such military activities.
