Vol. 369 No. 5

Written Answers. - Vacancies in Donegal.

19.

asked the Minister for the Public Service the number of vacancies in departmental offices in County Donegal; the number of applicants for transfer to County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The majority of applicants for transfer to centres outside Dublin are from staff in the clerical grades and are processed in accordance with arrangements settled at General Council under the conciliation and arbitration scheme.

Applications by civil servants for such transfer are dealt with by their own Departments in accordance with the agreed arrangements. Records of the total numbers seeking transfers are not kept by my Department. It is not possible for me to indicate the total number of applicants for transfer to Donegal or which Department may have vacancies there. I am, therefore, in a position to indicate only the number of applications for transfer to County Donegal made by staff in my Department and the Office of the Civil Service Commission. Two such applications for transfer to County Donegal have been made, both in my Department. My Department and the Office of the Civil Service Commission have no offices in County Donegal.
