Vol. 369 No. 6

Written Answers. - State Expenditure on Kerry Babies Tribunal.

135.

asked the Minister for Justice in relation to the Kerry Babies Tribunal, if he will give the total expenditure by the State on this tribunal and the detailed breakdown of this expenditure including: (1) barristers' fees, (2) medical fees, (3) solicitors' fees, (4) stenographers' fees and/or salaries, (5) salaries of court staff, (6) general expenses and (7) the amount of VAT paid.

The amounts paid in accordance with the provisions of section 6 of the Tribunals of Inquiry (Evidence) (Amendment) Act, 1979, to the lawyers representing the parties before the tribunal have already been published. A breakdown on the lines sought in the question is not readily available and will take some time to compile. If the Deputy will put the question down again in, say, two weeks time, I would hope to be in a position to give the answer at that stage.
