Vol. 369 No. 6

Written Answers. - Management of Red Deer.

84.

asked the Minister for Tourism, Fisheries and Forestry his plans for the management of red deer in County Donegal.

My Department aims to control deer numbers in County Donegal and elsewhere in a manner consistent with the conservation of the species and in the interests of preventing damage to State forests and agricultural crops. This control is achieved through the licensing of experienced deer stalkers and through the letting of deer stalking rights over State forests, where appropriate.
