Vol. 369 No. 6

Written Answers. - Death Grant.

110.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 was refused an exceptional needs death grant; and if the decision can be reviewed.

It is understood from the Eastern Health Board, who are responsible for the administration of the supplementary welfare allowance scheme in the Dublin area, that two applications for assistance towards burial expenses were received in this case, one from the deceased's daughter, which was later withdrawn, and the second from his widow. From the information available the board were not satisfied that a grant was payable to the widow.

An appeal has now been lodged and is being considered by the board.
