Vol. 369 No. 9

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Monaghan Day Care Centre.

6.

asked the Minister for Health when he proposes to make funding available for a day care centre for the elderly at Rooskey, Monaghan.

The North-Eastern Health Board have submitted to the Department the sketch design and cost plan for the day care centre at Rooskey, Monaghan. The next stage in the planning process will involve the submission by the health board of detailed construction specifications and final cost plans. Approval to proceed to this stage should issue shortly.

Can the Minister expedite this matter in view of the special circumstances which apply? Ten years ago the health board secured a site for an old people's home but it was then substituted by a day centre——

The schemes will proceed in tandem.

Will the money be available?

The health board must submit detailed construction specifications to the Department of Health with the final cost plans. We are awaiting those and approval will issue in the very near future. The estimated cost is about £300,000.
