Vol. 369 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

51.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant and mortgage subsidy has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

The grant cannot be paid until an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that all the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been fulfilled. An inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks. Payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be considered when 12 months repayments of the loan have been made and a claim form, duly completed and certified by the lending agency, has been received.

52.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant final approval and payment will be paid to persons (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the fact the house is now occupied and completed.

Approval of a new house grant and mortgage subsidy issued to the person named on 30 October 1986. A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that all the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been fulfilled. The inspection will be carried out within the next few weeks.

53.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an application for the house improvement grant was received from a person (details supplied) in County Cork; when an inspection was carried out; and when a decision will be made regarding the grant.

The application was received on 12 December 1985 and an inspection of the house was carried out in January 1986. A decision on the applicant's eligibility for a grant will be made when he furnishes certain information relative to the carrying out of the work which has been requested from him on a number of occasions.

54.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will be carried out for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford for a house improvement grant.

An inspection, with a view to the approval of a grant, will be carried out within the next few weeks.

55.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total amount of moneys sanctioned following a recent house improvement grant inspection for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The application relates to a number of categories of work. A grant for a bathroom cannot be given as there is already a bathroom in the house. As the required waiting period of seven years has not elapsed since the payment of a reconstruction grant in June 1981 the approval of grants for an extension and for repairs-window and door replacement cannot be considered at this stage. However, the applicant's possible eligibility for an extension grant on the grounds of overcrowding (where a reduced waiting period of five years applies) or for a pre-1940 dwellings grant (where a waiting period does not apply) is being clarified with the inspector. The applicant will be advised of the outcome as soon as possible.
