Vol. 369 No. 9

Written Answers. - Post-Nuptial Citizenship.

86.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason for the delay by his Department in dealing with an application for post-nuptial citizenship (details supplied) where the application was made five weeks ago.

A declaration in the prescribed manner was lodged in my Department on 9 October 1986 on behalf of the person mentioned in the details supplied accepting Irish citizenship as his post-nuptical citizenship. Accordingly he became an Irish citizen on the date of lodgment of the declaration. An acknowledgment confirming citizenship was sent to the applicant's solicitors on 10 November 1986 in the ordinary way. There was no undue delay in dealing with the application.
