Vol. 369 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.

Before starting Question Time I wish to draw the attention of Deputies to the fact that the Chair has now come under pressure to make more progress at Question Time. I mentioned before that that was the view of the Committee on Procedure and Privileges but it was put on the record this morning. Therefore, I propose to do my best to make progress and to get some law and order back into Question Time. I will not allow speeches, short or long, and I ask for the co-operation of the Deputies in that regard. I also propose to limit the number of supplementaries and when the Chair calls the next question he will regard it as disorderly — as indeed it is — should Deputies continue to press for another question or talk about the importance of the one under discussion. The same will apply if they argue that they have the right to ask another question. I hope I will get the co-operation which I seek.
