Vol. 369 No. 11

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Law.

49.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is satisfied with the sentences and penalties presently provided for under the Road Traffic Acts; and if he intends to review them.

There was a comprehensive review of penalties in 1983, the results of which were implemented in the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 1984. While I am satisfied that the penalties specified in that Act are generally adequate, I may propose some adjustments when I have concluded my examination of the adequacy of the existing road traffic law.
