Vol. 369 No. 11

Written Answers. - Dublin Port and Docks Superannuation Scheme.

115.

asked the Minister for Communications if he will state in respect of his functions under the Harbours Act, 1946, in relation to the Dublin Port and Docks superannuation scheme; (a) the title and commencement date of the principal scheme; (b) the title and commencement date of each subsequent amendment in regulations; and (c) the title and operative date of any amendment approved but not yet in regulations.

Superannuation schemes in respect of the Dublin Port and Docks Board are divided into two categories — viz. officers and employees. The information requested by the Deputy in relation to the schemes is as follows:

Superannuation arrangements

Officers

Employees

(a) Title and commencement date of Principal Scheme

Dublin Port and Docks Board Officers' Superannuation Scheme — effective from 25 May 1961

Dublin Port and Docks Board Employees' Grade A Superannuation Scheme — effective from 5 October 1960.

(b) Title and commencement date of each subsequent amendment in regulations

Dublin Port and Docks Board Officers' Superannuation Scheme, 1961 (First Amending Scheme) — effective from 15 September 1961

Dublin Port and Docks Board Employees' Grade A Superannuation Scheme (First Amending Scheme) — effective from 7 August 1962.

Dublin Port and Docks Board Officers' Superannuation Scheme, 1961 (Second Amending Scheme) — effective from 1 July 1969

(c) Title and operative date of any amendment approved but not yet in regulations.

Improvements in the provisions of both schemes with a view to bringing them up to date with general public sector sumerannuation schemes have been under discussion for some time. A number of these improvements have been approved and will operate from varying dates depending on the nature of the amendment.
