Vol. 369 No. 12

Written Answers. - Zinc Deficiency.

67.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has had a survey made of zinc deficiency in cereals; and, if so, if he will comment on the result.

While a comprehensive national survey of zinc deficiancy in cereals has not been carried out, I understand that An Foras Talúntais have diagnosed areas of zinc deficiency in Counties Louth, Meath, Tipperary, Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford. There is evidence that a spray of zinc sulphate on affected crops can substantially increase grain yields.
