Vol. 369 No. 12

Written Answers. - Farm Yard Drugs.

70.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to an article (details supplied) with regard to a thriving black market in farm yard drugs; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The sale of veterinary medicines, including hormones and antibiotics, is strictly controlled under regulations introduced by my Department. While some breaches of the reguations have been detected and are at present the subject of legal proceedings, there is no evidence of widespread illegal sales of these products as alleged in the article.
