Vol. 370 No. 1

Written Answers. - Kerry Schools Extension.

40.

asked the Minister for Education the up-to-date position regarding the proposed extension and improvement works to Lissivigeen, Tiernaboul and Anabla primary schools near Killarney, County Kerry, and whether provision will be made for these works in the 1987 Estimates.

The tender documentation for the proposed extension to Lissivigreen national school, County Kerry, has been prepared by my Department and the position of seeking tenders for the project will arise for consideration in the context of the 1987 capital allocation to my Department for national school building, which has not yet been determined. A decision on the matter will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible.

My Department have sanctioned a grant towards the cost of improvements to Tiernaboul national school, County Kerry, which included a new toilet block and attention to windows and doors. The work was to be carried out by the school authorities in consultation with my Department's local advisers, namely, the Cork office of the Commissioners of Public Works. The school has lately applied for further improvement grants to cover window blinds, rewiring of the building and the provision of a new heating system. My Department are currently awaiting technical reports on these matters and will communicate further with the school authorities in due time.

My Department are in the course of preparing tender documentation for the proposed extension to Anabla national school, County Kerry. When the documentation becomes available, the project's position will be similar to that which obtain in relation to Lissivigeen.
