Vol. 370 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Kildare School.

96.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the need for the provision of an extension to Clane post-primary school, County Kildare; if he is aware of the full extent of extra facilities now needed to meet current demands; if he will urgently and positively respond to the request for an extension; when the extra facilities will be provided; the extent of the extension likely to be provided; the likely time-scale involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have already approved an extension to the Clane community school which will increase the capacity of the school to 700 pupils. My Department have recently informed the school authorities of the extent of the proposed additional teaching spaces and discussions are still taking place with them with a view to agreeing the schedule of accommodation to be provided. Architectural planning will be initiated as soon as the schedule is agreed. It is not possible at this stage to say what the likely time-scale for this project will be.
