Vol. 370 No. 2

Written Answers. - Rathfarnham (Dublin) National School.

172.

asked the Minister for Education if permission will now be granted to start the building of the new permanent extension to Rathfarnham parish national school, having regard to the urgent need for this facility; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

173.

asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to grant permission for the commencement of work on the new permanent extension to Rathfarnham parish national school, since stages of planning and tendering have been completed and permission to start building was requested in November 1985, but has not yet been granted; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 172 and 173 together.

My Department on 28 April 1986 authorised the chairman of the board of management of Rathfarnham parish national school, Dublin to invite tenders for the proposed extension to the school. These were forwarded to my Department on 12 June 1986 for examination, and this examination was recently completed.

It will not be possible to set a date for the placing of a contract for the project until the 1987 capital allocation for national school building to my Department has been determined.
