Vol. 370 No. 2

Written Answers. - Carlow Remedial Teacher Post.

179.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the urgency of providing a remedial teacher to be shared by Scoil Chomhgain Naofa, Killeshin and Carlow College national school; if, in view of the fact that there are a total of ten teachers between both schools. he will give immediate approval to the appointment; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Department has received an application from Killeshin and Carlow town national schools for a shared remedial teacher. The applications for remedial teachers for national schools are being processed at present in my Department. Remedial teaching posts are allocated in accordance with a priority of need and the application referred to by the Deputy will be considered in the light of the availability of remedial posts for 1986-87. I will contact the chairperson of the board of management when a decision is made.
