Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway School.

4.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will undertake a full assessment of the special requirements of Scoil Bhríde, Shantalla, Galway, in view of the fact that the school has two classes for deaf children, one class for traveller children and several classes for slow learners and in view of the fact that the school has a majority of its pupils from a disadvantaged background; and if, as a result of this assessment, he finds the necessity for the appointment of care-taker and secretary, he will make special arrangements for such appointments.

Two caretakers and a secretary have been employed under two social employment scheme projects in Scoil Bhríde, Shantalla, Galway. The projects finished in June and July 1986, and subsequently the sponsors made an application for the renewal of these projects. The application was considered by the SES Monitoring Committee at their meeting on 30 October 1986 and the continuation of the projects, for a further year, has now been agreed. The National Manpower Service in Galway will be able to advise Scoil Bhríde when recruitment for the positions in question may commence.
