Vol. 370 No. 2

Written Answers. - Review of Vehicle Weight Legislation.

79.

asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the decision to raise the maximum lorry weight to 40 tonnes, he will consider allowing the distribution of the tonnage on any combination of five axles, namely three axles per tractor and two per trailer, or two axles per tractor and three per trailer.

At present, I am reviewing the legal maximum gross weight of 38 tonnes for five and six axle combined vehicles. I intend to make an announcement shortly on the outcome of this review.
