Vol. 370 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Health Centre.

107.

asked the Minister for Health if he is concerned at the failure to provide the promised alternative accommodation for approximately 20 staff and the public who use the Killarney Street, Dublin 1, health centre which has been in use for more than five years now; and if he will specifically ensure that heating is provided in the waiting room there while it remains in use.

As the Deputy knows the Eastern Health Board has acquired excellent accommodation which will enable them to transfer a number of staff from the North Strand and the Clarence Street health centres. When this transfer has been completed the health board will be able to relocate the staff at Killarney Street; mainly to Clarence Street health centre. I hope that staff will now agree to the implementation of the rationalisation plan for the area which will, I believe, significantly improve both the quality of the health services in the area and the working conditions of the staff.

Temporary heating arrangements have been made for the waiting area in the Killarney Street health centre. However the heating appliances have been stolen on a number of occasions and there has been the normal delay in replacing them. I am satisfied that the local health board manager has done and continues to do all that is possible under the circumstances in this regard.
