Vol. 370 No. 3

Written Answers. - Equality Directive.

70.

asked the Minister for Health the number of extra community welfare officers it is intended to appoint following the introduction of changes in social welfare legislation from 17 November 1986.

The question of further measures to alleviate difficulties arising from the equal treatment provisions in social welfare legislation has been announced by my colleague, the Minister for Social Welfare. In anticipation of an increased workload arising from the provisions, I have conveyed approval to the appointment of such number of extra community welfare officers as may be required. The implementation of this approval by the health boards is currently under way.
