Vol. 370 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 19 and 20.

No drama today.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the subject of my Private Notice Question to the Minister for Finance on Tuesday in relation to IMF intervention.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

In view of the statement from the Minister for Social Welfare that she proposes changes in the implementation of equality legislation, may I ask the Taoiseach if legislation will be introduced or how such equality is to be effected?

No new legislation is necessary.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the plight of the 200 workers laid off by the Irish Hospitals Sweepstakes last January.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the closure of Gorey CBS primary school.

Can the Taoiseach or the Minister for Finance confirm the rumours circulating regarding the disbandment of the Office of Public Works? Will the maintenance now being carried out by that office be transferred to the Department of Agriculture? Will there be redundancies in Ballina or will the staff there be redeployed?

That does not arise on the Order of Business.

In that case I wish to raise it on the Adjournment as the Taoiseach seems to find it funny that 50 people in Ballina may lose their jobs.

It is funny to raise rumours on the Order of Business.

I will communicate with the Deputy.
