Vol. 370 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sheep Headage Scheme.

150.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when sheep headage payments for 1985 and 1986 will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The person named did not apply for payment under the 1985 sheep headage scheme in the disadvantaged area. He applied for grants on 185 mountain ewes in 1986 but did not list any mountain grazings — on which those ewes had to be substantially maintained — on his application form and was refused payment for this reason. He has recently produced documentation indicating that he does have mountain grazings. My Department is examining the documentation and when such examination is completed will then decide whether the person named is eligible for sheep headage grants or not.
