Vol. 370 No. 5

Written Answers. - Bessment (Monaghan) Factory.

23.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the present position as regards obtaining an occupant for the IDA 24,000 sq. ft. advance factory at Bessment, Monaghan; if there are any proposals to divide it into a number of self-contained units; and if there are any proposals to utilise it as a permanent display centre for the purpose of displaying local manufactured goods.

Limerick East): I presume the Deputy is referring to the IDA advance factory in Knockaconny, County Monaghan. The Industrial Development Authority is continuing to actively promote that premises for suitable projects.

There are no proposals at present to sub-divide the factory into a number of self-contained units. This would only be considered where the specific requirements of a project made it necessary.

There are no plans to utilise the advance factory as a permanent display centre for the purpose of displaying local manufacturing goods, as IDA do not consider they are empowered to do this under the terms of the Industrial Development Act, 1986.
